The Persian New Year is but weeks away. This year it falls on Saturday March 20th, at 5.32pm and 13 seconds (which is the precise time of the vernal equinox) – have a good one! Of course we have/will have all the trimmings in the shop, right down to goldfish.
To celebrate the New Year we are hosting two events with an Iranian theme. On April 8th we have a story-telling evening with the ever lovely Sally Pomme Clayton. The theme is Mesopotamian tales about the rites of Spring – but we must stress that it is a story-sharing event as much as anything else, so if you have any spare tales you can bring along to spin….
On April 9th we are hosting the Peckham launch of a new autobiographical novel: Once Upon a Time in Tehran, which has been written by one of our customers, Shirin Azari. She will be reading from the book and signing copies.
Both events are FREE – but you must book as space is limited. As usual our samovar will be on, and we might share some of our sweets with you if you are good.
VERY ADVANCE DIARY DATES: the Peckham Literary Festival is back. This year’s dates are 15th – 21st November.
