Meshwaq: Licorice

£1.29

Meshwaq is the Arabic word for toothbrush. Now you're intrigued, eh?

Description

Licorice has been used for centuries as a remedy for all sorts, from a dicky tummy to a dry cough (you’ll find it is an ingredient in lots of cough mixtures). It is also used as a natural toothbrush: chewing gently on the end of a licorice stick cleans the teeth and massages the gums. It’s slight sweetness means that it can also be enjoyed as a treat, although common sense will hopefully prevent you from giving it to very young children.. To employ it in cooking – or to convert it into a tea – just add it to boiling water, simmer for 5 minutes and then take off the heat and allow to sit for 5 minutes more. Strain and use/drink the water.
