Persepolis Dates for your Diary

Ramadan this year runs from around 9th July—9th August. In multi-cultural London, this information is probably more relevant to you than you realise.

Our next pop-up Persepolis is on 10th July at Anderson & Co.
On this occasion Mr. Shopkeeper is to do most of the work as we are hosting a Persian barbecue special. Yeah – we know: all men fancy themselves as BBQ gods. But he really is pretty good at this stuff. It is possibly genetic: Iranians love meat cooked over fire, and if you go to an Iranian restaurant you will mostly be expected to eat kebab. Well, this is our take on it. Vegetarians fret not: we will cater for you as well.

The meal will start with fresh herbs, warm bread, cheese and dips: a classic sini-e-mazeh, or tasting platter.

Next up we will bring you spiced quail and Mrs. S’ famous kufteh. Veggies will be offered pumpkin kibbeh and falafel with homemade spiced mayo.

The ‘main course’ will comprise jujeh kebab (tender chicken marinated with lemon and saffron), together with the most famous of the lot: kebab-e-koobideh or skewered minced lamb. This will be served with rice and grilled tomatoes, along with salad and pickles. For vegetarians there will be a spinach and prune tagine.

Pudding will be a meze platter of seasonal fruit, yoghurt with honey and Middle Eastern pastries.

The lovely Lisa will provide tea or coffee to wash it all down. And as she has now been granted a liquor licence, you will be able to peruse has selection of excellent and inexpensive wines and beers.

You can book directly by calling 020 7469 7078: a £10 deposit will secure your place.

Mid-August: remember to pop in and tell Mrs. S. how young she looks: she will be having a ‘significant birthday’.

30th August sees us return to the Hill Station for another barbecue pop-up (really trying to jinx the weather here, no?). Menu coming soon.

14th September: either join or sponsor Team Persepolis in their attempt to conquer the Thames Path Challenge 50km walk. We are walking for Asthma UK, as one of our customers died of asthma last year. If you would like to walk with us, pop-in or call for more details.

26th September is (hopefully) the publication date for our next book, Snackistan, of which more, lots more, later… There will be a launch party: do come 🙂

October: sees us doing a pop-up Persepolis and a book signing in Crystal Palace, and we are off to Bath to do a class at the Vegetarian Cookery School there.
