Pop-Up Persepolis News Flash: Friday 11th October, Peckham Rye

ryecafe
Well this is exciting: we’re gonna be cooking in a park. Well, on a rye. The nice people at the Cafe on the Rye are going to let us take over their venue for one evening in October.

On Friday 11th October, we will be taking you on a voyage to Snackistan, a slightly East-of-centre, fictitious land where tummies are always full, and there’s a slightly naughty smile on every face. This is to celebrate our new book of the same name, which is due out on 3rd October this year.

So our (provisional) menu will comprise mostly Middle Eastern meze, street fare and comfort food, served in relaxed meze style.

On the tables when you arrive there will be a selection of home roasted, spiced nuts and snacks, together with olives and chillies.
To start (and to beat off the October chill) we will offer you ash-e-anar – pomegranate soup – one of Iran’s favourite comfort foods.

This will be followed by prawns with barberries and lentils, and chermoulla spiced sardines. For veggies there will be baby aubergine dolmeh and stuffed vine leaves.

The main course will comprise sheftalia (pork meatballs) and lamb tagine accompanied by salad, za’atar fried potatoes, warm bread, Persian style herbs and yoghurt.
Vegetarians will get a platter of falafel, kookoo and fouls medammes.

Pudding will be Turkish coffee cake served with cardamom cream.

The price of £35.00 includes tea or coffee at the end of the meal. To book and pay, you need either to call 020 8693 9431 or pop in to the cafe.
The venue will be licensed for the evening, so you you will be able to purchase wine and beer.

Our next pop-up after that will be a combined book-signing/Snackistan supper in collaboration with Crow on the Hill in Crystal Palace on 29th November. Details to follow.
