Pop-Up Snackistan @ Bookseller Crow on the Hill

snackistanWell this is exciting: we’re gonna be cooking at a palace. Well Crystal Palace. This counts, yes? The nice people at the Living Water Satisfies Community Cafe are going to let us take over their venue for one evening in November. This has all been brokered by the rather wonderful bookshop next door: Bookseller Crow on the Hill is one of the fabbest indie book sellers in town.

On Friday 29th November, we will be taking you on a voyage to Snackistan, a slightly East-of-centre, fictitious land where tummies are always full, and there’s a slightly naughty smile on every face. This is to celebrate our new book of the same name, which looks at street food, meze and comfort food, and came out in October this year. Crow on the Hill will be selling signed copies on the evening, entirely by coincidence of course.

The menu will start with traditional Iranian herbs, warm bread and cheese to start, along with a trio of meze dips and some traditional nuts and seeds.

This will be followed by prawns with barberries and lentils and chermoulla spiced sardines. Veggies will be offered baby stuffed aubergines and spinach fatayer.

For the main part of the meal there will be a sumptuous kebab platter with Persian steamed rice and Snackistani potato wedges. Vegetarians will get their own street food platter of falafel, kookoo and fouls medammes.

Pudding will also be served meze style: we’re talking paklava, Persian shirinee and seasonal fruits.

The LWS is licensed, so you can wash all of this down with wine or beer.

The price of £35.00 includes tea or coffee at the end of the meal.

TICKETS FOR THE EVENT ARE AVAILABLE FROM 11AM ON 1ST NOVEMBER: CLICK HERE.
